New Sievers TOC Firmware and Software Supports Major Global Pharmacopeias

September 3, 2010 - Boulder, CO - GE Analytical Instruments, part of GE Power and Water, announces new firmware and software for the Sievers 900 and 500 RL Series Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzers. These TOC analyzers now support major pharmacopeias, including the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopeia (EP), Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP), Chinese Pharmacopeia (CP), and the Indian Pharmacopeia (IP).

The new Sievers firmware and software provide support to meet the new Japanese Pharmacopeia 16 (JP16), JP<2.59> TOC Test and JP<2.51> Conductivity Test (Model 500 RL only) requirements for Purified Water (PW) and Water for Injection (WFI). The JP <2.59> TOC standard requires different compounds and calculations for calibration and system suitability testing than those specified in the USP and EP monographs.

New Sievers TOC standards include the 500-ppb C as SDBS (sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate) standards for JP 16 compliance. The new firmware provides automated protocols for JP16 tests. DataPro 900 software documentation guides users on establishing new test procedures. To assist users in analytical instrument qualification, the Sievers Validation Support Package (VSP) also includes the new test methodologies.
