New Sievers InnovOx On-Line TOC Analyzer

January 25, 2010 - Boulder, CO - GE Analytical Instruments, a division of GE Water & Process Technologies, announces its new Sievers InnovOx On-Line Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer for measuring TOC in wastewater, industrial process, and environmental samples for a wide range of industries. The InnovOx On-Line joins the InnovOx Laboratory Analyzer in offering GE’s innovative Supercritical Water Oxidation technology for improved reliability, uptime, and robust handling of challenging sample matrices such as brine.

The InnovOx (short for “Innovative Oxidation” technology) uses Supercritical Water Oxidation (SWCO), which combines high temperature and pressure to convert an aqueous sample matrix into supercritical water, a phase in which the water is neither liquid nor gas, and where SCWO can occur. This results in highly efficient oxidation, enhanced TOC measurement accuracy and precision, and the elimination of problematic sample contamination after analysis. SCWO represents one of the most significant breakthroughs in commercial TOC analysis in the last 25 years, offering an alternative to the decades-old combustion method.

"We designed the InnovOx Series TOC Analyzers to address a pressing industry concern — reliability.” said Steve Poirier, V.P. of Business Development for GE Analytical Instruments. “Tests have demonstrated that the InnovOx, with its unique SCWO technology, can run thousands of consecutive samples of the same or varying matrices with no downtime.”

The Sievers InnovOx measures from 0.5 to 50,000 parts per million (ppm) TOC. It features six-month calibration stability, user-configurable alarms and outputs, and an intuitive color touch-screen display. The InnovOx is extremely easy to set up, operate, and maintain, and offers a low cost of ownership.
