Water is a critical component in the paper making process, and mills must ensure that the wastewater they release meets environmental regulations through regular monitoring.

Pulp and Paper

Water is a critical component in the paper making process.  From digesting to bleaching, effluent wastewater is produced. To ensure that process water and wastewater discharge is compliant per EPA regulations, the pulp and paper industry uses TOC analyzers to monitor water quality. Many mills purify their wastewater in multi-stage effluent treatment plants before releasing it into watercourses.  To ensure quality, the purified water released must be monitored regularly.

The Sievers InnovOx Laboratory TOC Analyzer offers the pulp and paper industry a low-maintenance, reliable instrument for monitoring water quality and ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. The InnovOx uses an innovative Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technique that achieves greater than 99% efficient oxidation, and can run hundreds of brine or cellulose samples continuously with no recalibration, no system maintenance, and no replacement parts. The InnovOx also removes problematic sample matrix contamination at the end of every analysis. This means there is no salt or oxidation by-product buildup in the reactor, tubing, or valves.
